Your topic is so timely Dr Bailey. I was recently also listening to Dr Yvonne Burkart, toxicologist on Diary of a CEO and she was discussing the same things. Also my friend recently recommended the app YUKA which immediately scans a product (food, beauty, other) and scores the product highlighting whether its hazardous or not. Its free and its awesome. I cant believe that my Dermatologist recommended a sunscreen that is actually Hazardous!! 🤦🏻‍♀️ I believe the universe is trying to tell me its time to change things up!! 😉

I’ve been done with shampoo since about 5 years. You could make your own shampoo from soap nuts and Amla and shikakai. Also watered down vinegar rinse leaves your hair silky smooth.

Thanks for the very useful info, Dr Sam Bailey.

A couple of months ago i ran out of shampoo, found that out when i tried to squeeze some out. :-) So i went to your idea of baking soda and apple cider vinegar. What a GREAT idea, i have not gone back since. Proof in action.

I too love my make up so thank you for the link to MG Naturals. Another option is to make your own. Go Native New Zealand sells a wide range of organic oils, bases and ingredients to make your own personal care and make up products. They have a lot of good recipes on their website to guide you and this method has the advantage of allowing customisation.

I haven't used any lipstick in years - even the "hypo-allergenic" ones had the same reaction. I could feel my lips tingle and a slight burning sensation - then the skin peeled off! Similar reaction with Nivea or Vaseline. I just used waterproof mascara for a while - I swam a lot. But I don't swim anymore (no pools close enough and goodness knows what's in sea water) so the last time I used it was at my daughter's wedding. All thrown away.

I have not used shampoo for a year now and ACV for conditioner. Well happy now (my winter hats do make it a bit greasy in a patch so I do wash it more often - just the water. My hair is thicker and the colour has improved.

They recommend using Vaseline on chickens combs and wattles in frosty weather - um, not any more will I do that! If it's not good for me then I'm not putting it on my birds either.

Maybe coconut oil instead.

Cheers Sam.

Dr B did a video on bicarb of soda and vinegar rinse a while ago. Enter quit shampoo into search box above.

1 tablespoon of baking soda per cup of water. A few drops of essential oil. I use rosemary. Follow up with vinegar rinse 1:4 vinegar to water. I make my own floral vinegar. My hair has never looked better!!

Unfortunately no. Any chemical free shampoo I've bought has made my hair dull lifeless straw.

Thank you again.

I might be interested in the things you have to say if you had transcripts or written articles available. Your accent makes it difficult to understand a word you’re saying.

Where on earth are you from? 😂. New Zealanders have an exquisite accent! 😉

Are you a native English speaker? her accent is lovely...very clear and she speaks slowly, you might need subtitles until your English level evolves

There is a transcript embedded in the page. Just below the video. Also on YouTube. Maybe not all her videos are on YouTube.

I should add I rarely watch videos as I prefer to read.

I get a less slatted version without other noise.
